Late night oiling blunders.

I had an entirely different post planned for today but in light of my experience last night I decided to share this little story instead.

The oiling life is a fun life...full of lovely scents and damn near miraculous experiences left and right.  It's little bottles of oils throughout the house, diffusers spreading the oil love and wellness and, for some like me, the pride of building a business that is based in relationships and sharing health and hope with friends (old and the ones I haven't met yet).

And...it's full of amusing 'oops' moments.

Last night...well technically, early this morning...was an 'oops' moment.  Lesson for today:  When oiling half asleep, read the label twice! Kinda like measure twice, cut once.

I've been applying Lavender nightly to help calm my spirit and encourage restful sleep.  Early this morning when I got up to let my pup out for his inevitable 3:30am 'I MUST check the back yard' trip outside I  wanted to get back to sleep as quickly as possible, I reached for my trusty bottle of Lavender and applied 2 drops.  After I put the cap back on and continued to rub the oil into my skin I noticed through my groggy brain that something didn't smell right...and didn't feel right.

A quick flip of the bathroom light revealed that in the dim light of night I had grabbed Thieves rather then Lavender.  Insert your choice of expletive here.  Luckily for me I had V-6 in reach and immediately applied some to the area to dilute the Thieves and then washed the area with Thieves Handsoap.  Note to oilers out there:  If something like this happens, DO NOT just apply water!  This will intensify the oil experience.

Amazingly enough, the quick dilution and then wash left the area no worse for the wear and a little Lavender Body Lotion resulted in calm skin even in light of my classic late night oiling blunder.

Moral of the story my fellow oilers...Check your labels!!  Especially when oiling late at night, in the dark and on sensitive skin!

Happy Friday and Bright Blessings!
